This CD-Rom includes images from the Pictures of Record, Inc. sets listed below. To view the complete list of works in any series, click on the link.

North American Series: Ranging from coastal Maine to the Dominican Republic, west to Louisiana, the American Southwest, the Northwest Coast, to Alaska, these images represent the works and lives of North Americans from the 11th and 12th millennia B.C. through the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.

Mexican Series: These are the great non-Maya cultures from the Olmecs on the Gulf Coast before 1500 B.C., through the great urban center, Teotihuacan, in central Mexico, to Tenochtitlan, the Aztec capital, conquered by the Spanish in 1519.

Maya SeriesRemnants of the Mayan civilization, one of the two great civilizations of the New World, persisted in Mesoamerica until the 17th century, around the time of the founding of Harvard University. These images come from the earliest precursors of the Maya sites through the magnificent complexes of Tikal, Copan, Palenque and others, to the last strongholds of the civilization.

South American Series: The great Andean Inca empire was only one of the many cultures of South America. The images of the Easter Island statues, the textiles of Paracas and the architecture of the Andean Colonial period give a glimpse into the others.

Aegean Series: Mycenae and Phaistos, Knossos and Delphi are integral to the development of Western culture--in art, literature and mythology.

Near East Series: Ranging from the early Neolithic of the Natufian culture from around 12,400 years before the present to 6th and 7th century Byzantine mosaics in Jordan, these images represent the sites of the origins of Western civilization.

Ethnoarchaeology and Ethnology Series: The material culture of Australian hunter-gatherers, Chinese traditional potters, and modern American life are represented in these images.

Historical Archaeology Series: Images of historical shipwrecks, a 19th century New England house site, artifacts from DeSoto's 1540 expedition into Florida, Russian-Aleut interaction and Andean colonial architecture are included.

Early Man Series: Images of stages of human evolution and tool use.

Ethnic Images: These images powerfully demonstrate how mass marketing perpetuates ethnic stereotypes. A major resource for analyzing perception and prejudice in America; Black and American Indian studies, American history, and ethnic studies.

Physical Anthropology Series: Images of paleopathology, forensic studies, origins of disease and dental anthropology.
