Koster
People have lived in the Lower Illinois Valley for nearly 12,000 years.
By 7500 B.C., hunters and gatherers had settled in what is now called the Koster
site. From Early Archaic, through Early, Middle and Late Woodland, to
Mississippian and present-day farmers, the Koster site has been used over and
over again through time. By Thomas Genn Cook and Michael D. Wiant.
