Room 2, north wall detail. The head chief and one under-chief, both dressed in jaguar skin, with prisoners at their feet. A beautifully rendered reclining figure in a loin cloth lies dead or unconscious. His hair and features are more refined than those of the other prisoners, and his body appears to have gashes on it. At his foot is a human head resting on leaves. This could be the head of a sacrificed prisoner or that of the young man who impersonated the maize god in an earlier scene. The severed head on leaves or a plate occurs in Maya representations of sacrificed gods. -Pictures of Record, Inc.
