The Aztecs
In 1519, Tenochtitlan, capital of the Mexica people, or Aztecs, was compared by the Spanish to Venice and Constantinople. Aztec monuments and other artifacts are included -- the pyramid of Tenayuca, near the capital, the Calendar Stone, the Fire Serpent from the Great Temple, and smaller works of these warlike but artistic and poetic people.
